Jump starting a car only takes a set of jumper cables and a working engine. These simple steps will get the dead car running in no time, but if this doesn't work, then the battery might have to be replaced.

Both cars' engines should be off to start. The positive and negative jumper cables should be hooked up to the correct ends on both batteries. Start the running car for about two minutes before turning on the dead car. If the dead car starts up, you can take off the jumper cables from the batteries. Leave the engine on for another 15 to 20 minutes before you turn it off again. This will ensure that it gets a sufficient charge.
